Hans Mangelsen Obituary
MANGELSEN, Hans Peter November 1, 1910 October 8, 2006 Dad passed away peacefully in Victoria in his 96th year. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Faye Rowley, son Randy, daughter-inlaw Jana, granddaughter Kalie Mae and grandson Riley. Predeceased by his loving wife Alice, June 23, 2006, all his siblings and son-inlaw Frank Rowley. Peter was born in Plympton, Manitoba, one of seven children born to Henry and Nicolina. He was a successful farmer near Maryfield, Saskatchewan in the Heron District, spending winters at the coast working in the forest industry and construction. Peter built many houses in his life time and was a pioneer in Victoria's tourist industry when he built the Surf Motel in 1959. He was a self taught visionary who made success look easy. He had a wonderful sense of humour, loved to travel and so enjoyed playing (winning) card games until the end. The family wishes to thank Island View Place for their loving care during his brief stay with them. There will be no service at Peter's request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter's memory to a charity of your choice. 304468
