Hazel Blake Obituary
BLAKE, Hazel
November 16, 1929 - August 31, 2024
It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our mom (Hazel, a.k.a Dolly) who peacefully passed away on August 31, 2024.
We have lost our biggest supporter and provider of our family and especially us kids during our good and bad times (we all have our stories). We have also lost the glue which held our family together.
Born and raised in Edson, Alberta, along with 3 sisters and one brother, Mom's family eventually moved to Kamloops, BC.
Once there, Mom completed the only available secretarial program, while playing every sport she could, and secured employment with the provincial government.
It was while working in this capacity that she met our dad, Norman Blake who was also employed by the provincial government. After a series of dates which included softball, dancing, movies and roller skating and Dad grudgingly participating, they married on April 12, 1950.
Soon after marriage, Dad's job took us throughout the province with 3 boys and one girl all being born in separate towns. Despite the difficulties which come with raising a family, Mom and Dad provided the best upbringing ever and we thank you.
Mom and Dad retired to Victoria in 1985 with Mom lawn bowling and playing cards with the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling club. Unfortunately, Dad passed away on November 2, 2018 and thankfully we got the time to enjoy Mom until now.
Mom leaves behind her children, Gary (Meta), Donna (Stanley), Jerry (Nancy d.2014), Daryl (Linda), 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
