AADLAND, Helen Lydia Lovingly remembered by family and friends, Helen Lydia Aadland passed away at Amica House in Victoria, B.C. on Friday, July 8, 2005. Helen was born in Eagle, North Dakota on October 17, 1910. In 1911, her family moved to Shaunavon, SK as early homesteaders where Helen grew up on the family farm. She pursued a career in teaching and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1941. She taught in several country schools until settling in Regina, SK where she taught at the Correspondence School. In 1972, she retired to Victoria, B.C. and in her leisure years, she enjoyed travelling the outdoors as an avid walker and playing weekly bridge games with friends. She lived closely with her sisters and enjoyed the many visits of family from SK. She spent her remaining years at Minton House and later at Amica House. She is survived by her younger siblings, Gladys Aadland of Victoria, B.C. and Ralph Aadland of Saskatoon, SK. She is also remembered by her many nieces, nephews and grandnieces, as well as cousins and other relatives in Canada, the United States and Norway. Special thanks to Dr. Nuttall, the caring staff of Amica House on Douglas and the residents and staff of Minton House for their support. A private memorial will be held in her honor.
