Hendrik Vryheid Obituary

VRYHEID, Hendrik Willem Hans was born in 1922 in Soerabaja, then the Dutch Indies. As a youth he went to Holland where he lived in hiding during the Second World War Nazi occupation. Following this he received his Masters of Geology at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. He worked in the French Jura mountains, in Algeria and also in Tanzania. Hans came to Canada in 1953 and worked for Mobil Oil for 29 years in many places in Western Canada. He will be missed by his wife, Betty and their children; Maya (Norris), Julia and Andre as well as his grandson Nathan and his sister and brother in the Netherlands. Hans loved camping in the parks of Canada; the U.S.A. and Mexico, but especially in the Rocky Mountains. Many thanks to Dr. Keith McQueen and to the nurses of the Royal Oak office of the VIHA for their help. Hans requested that there be no service. 531260

My condolences to you all. I enjoyed Mr. Vryheid when we visited and had Girl Guide events at your house and the lake. He was always interesting and interested in us. Best wishes and love to you all.

Our thoughts are with you. We were good neighbors in Swift Current, Peace River, Dawson Creek and Calgary where our families grew up together. Hans was a supportive and conscientious co worker.
