Ian SUTHERLAND Obituary
SUTHERLAND, Ian Robert George February 22, 1928 - April 25, 2014 Ian passed at home peacefully in his sleep. He leaves behind a sister, Donna; sons, Art, Walter; daughters, Cherie, Michele (Ian); 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, many cousins. Dad was enlisted in the Merchant Navy from 1944 till 1952. He also served in the Canadian Coast Guard for many years. He then worked at Sooke Forest Products for 23 years before he retired. Of late he enjoyed many months a year in Mexico. Many thanks to Sooke Emergency Response team. There will be no service by request. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The merchant seaman play their part. Remember them with all your heart.

We are so sorry to read that Ian passed away. I was sending him an email about his birthday and it was returned. I searched his name and came across his obituary. I feel very sad not having talked to him since his last trip to Mexico. Ian will be fondly remembered by our family, his family on Chilco Road. He was a special friend and neighbour. OUr thoughts to you all.
