Iris Allen Obituary

ALLEN, Iris K. July 16, 1915 - January 24, 2018 Peacefully left us in her sleep at 102 yrs of age. Predeceased by her parents Jack and Edith Holyoak: husband Bill Allen: sister Sybil Banner and great granddaughter Molly Campbell. Iris was a longtime season ticket holder to the Victoria Symphony and a longtime member of the Metchosin Golf Club, Juan De Fuca Arts and Crafts Guild, Juan De Fuca Seniors Centre and the Sweet Adelines. A pioneer of the Happy Valley area and long time resident of Glen Lake. Iris was an avid reader and classical pianist who left us with lots of opinions and a great sense of humor. We will all miss her lively conversations at Sunday suppers. She will be lovingly missed by her daughters Joan Morrison and Liz Gee and son David Allen: grandchildren: Gerry Morrison, Lorraine Morrison, Debbie Boswell, Scott Morrison, Chris Allen, Dave Campbell, Corey York, Dina Brown, Christopher Gee, nieces and nephews and 21 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. George Urban and Dr. Konia Trouton for their extra special care and for the kindness of the nurses and staff of 7north at VGH. We also would like to thank the Beacon girls and friends at the Alexander Mackie. A memorial service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 317 Goldstream Ave., Victoria BC on Saturday, February 17th at 11am with reception to follow.

I only knew your Mom (Grandmother) as a patron at the library where I worked. She was one of those people we all looked forward to seeing, being not only an avid reader but also a warm person with many interests. She always seemed so amazed that all three of us at our library branch adored her, not realizing what a bright light she was in our day. Both my co-workers are gone now, but I know they would join me if they could in expressing great affection for your Mom & heartfelt condolences to all who loved her.
