Isabel Mavis Obituary


MAVIS, Isabel Leola 1916 2008 Isabel Mavis, 91 years, passed away peacefully in Victoria February 13, 2008, after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim, in 1988. She is lovingly remembered by her son Gary (Sheena) of Vancouver and grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Andrew and her daughter Margot (Ivan) of Campbell River and grandchildren Tonya and Megan and seven great-grandchildren. Isabel, born in White Rock B.C. moved to Burnaby and after graduating worked for Stride Studios. She married Jim, in Yorkton, Sask. while he served in the RCAF. She is fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends throughout Canada, Britain and Australia. Isabel and Jim moved to Powell River in 1948 when Jim went into business with Shell Oil whilst living there for 40 years. Mom enjoyed traveling, outdoors, gardening and was an avid badminton player. However her true joy was her family and friends. Mom moved to Victoria in 1995 and resided in Oak Bay where she thoroughly enjoyed the ocean and mountain views. A Celebration of Isabel's Life will take place Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1155 Fort St., Victoria, B.C. with reception to follow.
