Isabella Holmes Obituary

HOLMES, Isabella Orkney
1925 - 2023

Isabel, as she was known to her friends, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2023 at age 90. Isabel (nee Moodie) was born September 27, 1932 in Merritt, BC and moved to Victoria in 1965 with her husband (Jim) and family.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Diane, grandchildren Riley and Dylan and son Jim (Ann), and numerous nieces and nephews. Isabel was predeceased by Jim, her husband of 63 years in 2019.
Family and giving were paramount to Isabel (especially her grandchildren who she doted over and adored). Sunday Roast Beef dinners every week for the whole family, after-school care for the grandchildren in their younger years, remembering birthdays and anniversaries year after year, keeping in touch with those further afield and all done with a wonderful smile. She will always be remembered for her kind and generous nature and her amazing ability to make everyone she met a friend.
For many years, Isabel was an active member of Belmont United Church, singing in the choir with her very good friend Gert Robertson and Bert Storar (both of whom she was lifelong friends) and active in the UCW. Isabel later became a member of Cadboro Bay United Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Highgate Lodge and Clover Point Care who took such wonderful care of mom. She referred to you as her 'other family'. We would also like to thank Bill Cantelon for his spiritual guidance and social visits to Isabel.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. Isabel regularly donated to a host of charities, too many to single out one.
A Private Memorial will be held at Royal Oak Burial Park. A Celebration of Her Life will follow later in the year.

I will always remember Isabel with fondness. My mom was a resident of Highgate and lived on the same floor as Isabel. We would often chat when I visited my mom and took away some of the worries I had about my mom. Mom and Isabel and Jim had both lived on Kingsley and it was always something to reminisce about. I always felt happy after a chat with your mom and was very saddened to read of her passing. She was a beautiful, lovely lady and I am sure beyond a doubt that she will be missed terribly.
