After a long, full life, Mom died peacefully with family by her side on the evening of November 6, 2025. Predeceased by her husband, Bruce, and daughter Susan, she leaves her children Nancy (Rick), Jennifer (Oleg) and Dan (Kirsten) as well as her beloved grandchildren, Jordyn, Ty, Greta and Graeme.
Mom was born on October 16, 1936, and grew up on the farm in Belmont, Manitoba. She was one of eight children, and is predeceased by Jim, Ewart, Connie, and Arthur, and survived by Gordon, Enid, and her twin sister Bernice. After finishing high school in Belmont, she entered nursing school in Winnipeg, leading to a long career as a Registered Nurse that took her to Edmonton, Honolulu, Vancouver and eventually Victoria. It was on the ocean liner back to Vancouver from Honolulu that she met Bruce Garrison, on his way back from New Zealand. Once back in Vancouver, they married and stayed in British Columbia, with short stops in Coquitlam and Campbell River, before settling down and raising their family in Victoria's Western Communities.
Mom was an active member of the Juan de Fuca Curling Club and the Metchosin Golf Club. She was an avid golfer, and played as often as she could. But most of all, she loved her family. She was a caring and loving mother, and an even more caring and loving grandmother. She was adored by her grandchildren. She remained close with her many brothers and sisters, especially her twin sister Bernice. A highlight of her life were the huge Currie family reunions in Radium Hot Springs, organized by her brother Arthur.
We are forever grateful to have been with her as she passed, and we want to extend the deepest thanks to all the staff at The Heights, who often commented on how sweet she was to them.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of BC at
