James Chmiel Obituary

James A. Chmiel, 66, of Vandergrift, formerly of New Kensington, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, in Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights.

Born Oct. 5, 1939, in New Kensington, to the late John P. and Catherine F. Mrochek Chmiel, he lived in New Kensington most of his life.

A 1957 graduate of New Kensington High School, (Ken Hi), he graduated from Princeton University, Princeton, N.J., in 1961, and earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. Dr. Chmiel was a lifelong student of learning.

Survivors include two brothers, Edward J. (Ann) Chmiel of Barefoot Bay, Fla., and Thomas (Patricia) Chmiel of Clarksville, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Irene Chmiel of New Kensington; three nieces; and a nephew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Chmiel.

At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the care of ROSS G.
