James Moody Obituary

MOODY, James Frederick July 18, 1938 - December 1, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, James "Jim" Moody who passed away peacefully on December 1, 2018 at the Nanaimo General Hospital with loved ones by his side. Jim was predeceased by his beloved son, Dale, in 1968, his parents Jessie and Roland Moody, and sister Marlene. Jim is survived by his wife, Joan (Sinclair), his daughters Julie (Gerry) Tutte, Teresa Moody, and step-daughter Willow (David) Affleck; grandchildren Rebecca (Teresa), Jaclyn (Julie), William and Tommy (Willow) and great-grandson Dean (Jaclyn), his siblings Terry, Gordie, Elizabeth, Peter, Deborah, & Eileen. Jim was born and raised in Victoria where he worked in a variety of careers before moving to Calgary in the 80's where he enjoyed success as a Real Estate Developer. He recently moved back to the Vancouver Island settling in Lantzville. Jim was a gifted athlete and sports enthusiast. He played catcher for the Bates Fastball Team and also enjoyed coaching fastball, junior football and hockey. Jim loved to golf and had recently taken up learning how to play the guitar. Jim's other passion was singing. He was a member of the Wayward Trio in the 60's, and never lost his love of performing. He was truly in his element when taking the stage, whether it was sports or singing, he aimed to entertain! Jim was always the life of the party, ready to belt out a tune with a voice that rivaled Elvis & Sinatra. He was even serenading the nurses in his final months. Dad lived life with passion, enthusiasm, and class and faced life's struggles head on with courage and dignity. Dashingly handsome, always wearing a smile with a twinkle in his blue eyes, it's hard to imagine his spark could ever be extinguished. But we find comfort in knowing he is at peace after a long 7 month struggle. He will be deeply missed by his 2 daughters, their mom Sandra, his wife Joan, and all of his family, friends and colleagues. A Celebration of Life will be held in 2019. TBA.

Jim and I shared so many laughs over the years -- even over such silly things as our terrible golf shots! He was a great athlete, and extremely competitive. I always enjoyed his company. Gonna miss him!! May God bless him.

To the Moody family
i wish to express my condolences for your loss.
Jim was my first football coach in Victoria back in the mid 60,s
he took two dozen young boys from all over Victoria and molded the first bantam football team and league.
Jim managed to get equipment from the vampire organization and had us practicing with play books like the pros.
he was so dedicated to us with practices and managed two games the first year.
we so soundly defeated the two teams i will not mention the scores.
one of our team went on to play for the Edmonton Eskimos.
the two years with Jim and the team were some of the best times i had as a young man.
i am sorry i never got to thank Jim again for what he did in my life.
only sadder to know we were only 20 minutes apart as i live in Nanoose bay.
Jim was such a talented and ambitious man .
i will always remember his beautiful smile and voice.
Thanks JIM
