90th birthday celebration - Part 4
Jan takes in the music. Serious business. He appreciated every notes. He said afterwards that it was his best birthday celebration ever! Not bad in this first year of Covid.

Jan was very appreciative of his 90th birthday celebration listening to Romani violin music in our home garden. A flick of birds joined in to listen to the classical melody. - Part 1

An inspiring journey we shared with Jan along with Eva and Jeff and Carol while passing by this planet...
He used his return ticket with Dignity ....an art of going back....
We, the living, have tears, missing him as a way of sharing the departure of loved one....even though return journey is also a celebration...

Jeff. My deepest sympathies to you and your family. When I think about people who had a big influence on me your dad is on top of the list. He was always up for a debate, hard to say no to, wicked smart, incredibly generous, an inspirational builder and a great host. Your dad opened his house to me. So many dinners, so many conversions, and fun-driving to Maine in a snow storm comes to mind. He challenged my notion of coffee, soup (hoi doi), and politics. I watched him build and move anything. Sometimes I hear Jan in my head as I dig out a rock from my garden and attempt to move it. So many warm memories of a man who always had a plate at his table for me no matter when we would show up. I guess in the end he was also brave. It´s not easy to say goodbye to the people you love. He was one of a kind and will be missed.
