Janet Slaughter Obituary

SLAUGHTER, Janet Louise (nee Shears) Janet died peacefully February 2, 2018 at Broadmead Lodge with beloved daughter Karen by her side. Born August 2, 1933 in St. John's Newfoundland, Janet moved to Toronto at the age of 17 to attend nursing school before joining the Royal Canadian Navy. Predeceased by her husband John, "Todd", daughter Deborah and son Robert. Janet is survived by her loving daughter Karen, niece Kim and nephew Rod. She will be missed by many. Janet was an avid gardener and kept a beautiful garden at her home in Fairfield for many years. Her love of her garden was only surpassed by her love of her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wardroom at CFB Esquimalt, 1586 Esquimalt Road on March 3rd at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted by Broadmead Lodge, Victoria, BC - www.broadmeadcare.com. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallgardens.com.

Jan and I were Nursing Sisters together in Naden during the 1950's and when I married in Naden Chapel in May 1958 she was my Maid of Honor. We are Godparents to her daughter Karen. She was a very close personal friend and we will certainly miss her.
