Janet Vallevand Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce that Janet passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022, in Ottawa. Janet was born in Victoria, BC on October 7, 1934. Predeceased by her parents Jerry and Eileen Bowden, her brother Gerald, and her sister Joan. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Vallevand of 68 years, her brother Greg Bowden (Janice) and her children; Martin (Baohong), Stephen (Elaine), Karen (Michel), Lynn Shabinsky (Mark), and grandchildren; Jacob, Jenna, Emily, Jessica, Kelly, Marissa, Courtney, Claudia, Sarah, and Nicolas along with seven great-grandchildren. She met Bill, a naval officer cadet at Royal Roads in Victoria. They married in 1954 and she spent the next thirty years happily following him on postings across Canada, in England and the US. Janet loved her life as a naval officer's wife and a mother. In retirement, they spent many years in Victoria with lifelong friends until their return to Ottawa to be close to their children. Our family is grateful to the staff at the Montfort Hospital and the Rockcliffe Retirement Residence for the care and attention that they provided to Janet. A private family service is planned.
