LAWRASON, Jean With great sadness we announce the death of Jean Lawrason (nee: Mayhew), loving wife for 63 years to Alex and mother to eight children, seventeen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She gave an enormous amount of joy and love to all, and each will have everlasting memories of her compassion and generosity, and of her beautiful smile. Born in 1920 in Victoria, B.C., daughter of the Hon. Robert Mayhew and Grace Mayhew, she died peacefully of cancer on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Her endurance during the last several months of her illness is a testament to her strength and courage. She was an extraordinary woman. Her kindness and warmth touched many lives. Her children are Vicki Rohn, Rob, David, June Reneau (Doug), Barbara Shaw (Bill), Patti Blair (Jim), Alan (Janet Clewes), and Sandra. Her grandchildren are Jake, Elke, and Max Rohn; Blair and Scott Lawrason; Derek and Ally Reneau; Tanya Milburn, Meghan, Heather, and Patti Shaw; Jean, John and Dan Blair; and Peter, Sarah and Emily Lawrason. Her greatgrandchildren are Carter and Anna Rohn. Jean graduated from the University of Toronto in 1942. She and Alex lived in Victoria and Vancouver, B.C., and in Oakville, Pembroke, Toronto, and Lakefield, Ontario. In Toronto she devoted long hours to Huntley Youth Services and the Big Sister Thrift Shop, and wherever she lived she volunteered for causes and worked tirelessly for her church. We celebrate her adventurous spirit, her sense of humour, and her selfless devotion to her family, her church, and the causes she supported. A Memorial Service to celebrate Jean's life will be held at the Lakefield United Church, 47 Regent Street in Lakefield, on Monday, January 9, at 12 noon. A reception will follow the service. If desired, directions to the church, online condolences to the family, and donations to Lakefield United Church or the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation many be made at
