Jean Taylor Obituary
Jean Verlin (McKee) Taylor passed away peacefully January 12, 2014 in Victoria, B.C. Born September 22, 1919 in Vancouver, she was predeceased by sisters Helen McKee and Eleanor Ledingham, and William (Bill) Taylor, beloved husband of 52 years. Jean's warm, open-hearted spirit was cherished by her sons and their spouses, Richard and Patrice Taylor, Steve Taylor and Mary Boulton, grandsons Theo and Quinn, nephew Al Ledingham, step grandkids Mara, Adam, Karolina, and Caleb and by many friends and extended family. After graduating from McGee and the Vancouver Normal School, Jean taught in a one room school in the Cariboo, then in schools in Woodfibre and Victoria (Quadra, Richmond). Jean returned to teaching after raising a family, volunteering at the G.R. Pearkes Clinic school and the Royal BC Museum; as an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Jean supported education for young women. In retirement, Jean enjoyed extended daily walks, hearty family meals, and her lifelong interest in music. Heartfelt thanks go out to Jean's friends and the staff at Berwick House for their support and care.
