Jennifer SIGURDSON Obituary

SIGURDSON Jennifer (Jenny) Leigh, born February 26th, 1973, passed away peacefully on June 5th, 2002, with her partner Travis at her side. She fought a courageous battle with breast cancer. Jenny will be dearly missed by her parents, Elaine (Alan) and Wilfred (Debra), and sister Debbie and Andrea; grandparents Reginald and Gladys Shelford, and Dora Sigurdson. She was predeceased by her grandfather Franklin Sigurdson. She will also be lovingly remembered by her family and friends in British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario. Born in Winnipeg, Jenny moved with her family to Sidney, B.C. at the age of five. During childhood, she was active in the Piranha swim club and the Sidney girl's softball league. She graduated from Parkland High School and was awarded her B.A. and B. Ed. from UBC. Jenny had a passion for travel that led her to visit Europe, the Middle East, Mexico and Thailand. She began her brief teaching career at McMath High School in Richmond, B.C. and will be fondly remembered by her students and teaching staff. Jenny brought joy, humour, friendship and compassion to all her relationships and endeavours during her much too short life. Many thanks to the staff of the B.C. Cancer Agency and the kind people at the First Floor of Richmond Pavilion at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. A special thanks to Dr. Bill Cavers and Dr. Karen Gelmon. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2002 at 2:00 pm at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, would be appreciated.
