Jerry Duncan Obituary

DUNCAN, Jerry Ray
1948 - 2025
Jerry Ray Duncan passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1st, 2025, at 7:30 a.m., surrounded by his loving family. Born in Vancouver, BC, in 1948, Jerry spent the majority of his life in Victoria, BC, where he built a joyful life with his beloved wife of over 40 years, Maureen.
Jerry enjoyed a long and dedicated career at DND Esquimalt, working as an electroplater from the age of 23 until his retirement. Known for his easygoing nature, playful sense of humour, and genuine kindness, he formed lasting friendships wherever he went.
A lifelong fan of country music and classic cars, Jerry took great pride in restoring his cherished 1952 Willys. He was also a sports enthusiast who loved playing slow pitch and volleyball, and rarely passed up the chance for a good round of golf. Jerry and Maureen shared a passion for travel-whether cruising the seas or visiting cherished friends across the UK, they embraced every journey with joy and curiosity.
After being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2015, Jerry continued to stay as active and engaged as possible. In more recent years, he found comfort in the simple pleasures of life: relaxing in his favourite chair, watching MASH and CSI, and enjoying his favourite foods; chicken wings, hot dogs, chocolate chip cookies and apple fritters!
Predeceased by his parents, Lois & Don, brother Donnie, and sister Darlene, he is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Maureen; sons Steven (Michelle), Aaron (Ruth); daughter Toni; and his treasured grandchildren: Jordan, Katie, Lauren, Zane, & Zac.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the exceptional nursing staff at Victoria General Hospital for their compassion and care during Jerry's final days, and to his phenomenal GP, Dr. Erika Reiser, for her ongoing support.

Anyone who knew and loved Jerry is welcomed to join the family on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 1pm to celebrate his life. Location: Chief & Petty Officers Mess, 1575 Lyall Street, Esquimalt, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's memory may be made to Parkinson Wellness Projects Victoria:

Yesterday

Crushed to hear this. Loved this guy and will always honour our time spent with him at social events, on the ball diamond, and on the volleyball court. Wishing these cherished memories bring you peace and strength - you are in our thoughts and hearts.

Maureen and family, I am saddened to hear of the passing of Jerry. He was a great friend, lots of fun, so many laughs. I always told him he "took me to heights no other man did" after he arranged for me to go up in the crane on their work site and finished off my visit with a plaque! "Is that you?" A favourite greeting he would always have for me. Well Jerry, I will be seeing you on the other side....you, my friend have earned your rest; go in peace. Much love
