Jerry Vander Wal Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jerry Vander Wal. An adored husband, loving father and proud 'Papa,' he left us peacefully on the morning of July 30th 2022.

Predeceased by his parents Jack and Ann, and stepdaughter Deborah, Jerry lives on in the hearts of his wife Sharon, children Steve (Natasha), Dirk (Alyssa), Petra, Angela, and stepdaughter Dale (Brian), his siblings Ann (Claus), Bernie (Jeannie) and Jeanette (Lorne), grandchildren Beckett, Macy, Eden, Gemma, Sadie, Madison, Ben, Katelyn (Patrick), and Courtney (Michael), great-grandchildren Emmett and Kai, and former spouse, Pat.

Jerry will be missed fiercely by his family and friends; he touched so many lives in his 73 years. He had a gift for seeing the good in everyone, and never missed an opportunity to tell someone that he cared for them.

Born November 19th 1948 in the Netherlands, his family immigrated to Alberta, Canada when he was four years old, where he lived until settling in Victoria, BC in 1989.

Jerry spent his career working in interior design. His personal passion was photography, for which he had great talent. His work can be viewed at https://www.flickr.com/photos/jerrybvanderwal/

Jerry also had a great passion for his hot rods, you'd never miss him driving by on his way to meet friends for coffee.

He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, his generous spirit, his love for his family and friends, and his caring conversation.

A service will be arranged at the Colwood Church to celebrate his life.

I'm going to deeply miss him, with you, Sharon, sitting near us in church, especially that cheekie smile telling me now no dancing today. I know when I get to heaven praising God he'll be dancing along side me. My deepest sympathies Sharon and family.
