So sorry to the Mchattie family
on the loss of your dear Jim.
We have such fond memories
of good times and much
laughter with Nora and Jim.
Cooking with Nora...the best way to julienne carrots....
riding in the purple gravel truck through the narrowest
of streets and of course the
good old BC Tel days.
Jim spread `Joy´ wherever he
went and with whomever he
met! It was contagious. We
loved him.
Gone too soon dear friend.

I am so very sad hearing of Jim's passing. My condolences go out to Raegan, Brian, Cameron, Kaitlyn, and Matthew. Raegan, know how much your Dad loved you. You were such a good daughter to him! To Cameron, Kaitlyn and Matthew, your Grandpa was so proud of you all and loved you so much! I worked with Nora at Telus for many years and became good friends with her and Jim. Over the years we would get together for dinners or play cards and games. Roz, Sherry and I would play Mah Jong with Nora and Jim liked to hangout with us and we'd play a " O Hell" and other games with Jim too. Or we'd have a beer in their beautiful garden on a summer day and have great visits! There was always a lot of belly laughs with Jim around. He loved to scare me and almost give me a heart attack! Later on, once I caught on to him, I would let him scare me, he would get such a kick out of it and laugh and laugh!! We had a lot of wonderful times with Jim and Nora and miss them both! You are gone too soon Jim, but never forgotten! That smile and laugh and you were always there to help out wherever you could!
Love you and miss you my Friend!

We have been unable to find the words to convey our sadness for Raegan and family. We met Jim and Nora when our daughters were five, so over 40 years. Jim was a gentleman. He could be counted on for a teasing (give and take), or for a helping hand. We miss both of them so very much.

I am so sorry Raegan and family on Jim´s Passing. I met Jim over 40 years ago and have so many wonderful memories of his boisterous laugh, easy going manner and twinkle in his eye. Memories of Raegan and Bones coming by for a visit, pool nights with the guys and always the life of the party. He was always ready to help out, to dump off a load of gravel, dig "up water lines" (you had to be there) and just generally always willing to help with anything. He was the best story teller especially about his hunting trips with friends...´the green light means the movie camera is off Jim´. He fell for it every time. To know Jim was to love him. You were taken too soon my friend and you will be greatly missed!

Michell family

Our Deepest condolences to the entire McHattie family, on the passing of Jim.
Our families have been connected for so very long; from our grandparents and parents being founding Peninsula community members, to our generation, and the next generations to come.
We have all known Jim for a very very long time... from farming to trucking, from borrowing much needed items, to keeping equipment working, to getting material for that one job site.
In the retirement years we have helped Jim with landscape projects around the yard and have had deep and thoughtful conversations at the farm and pit.
We have all had many laughs and stories with Jim about back in the day at the IEOA meetings and socials.
Discussing such important items like, "Did that guy finish that job?" and, "Do you know who that guy was that did that job back in the 70´s?"
Jim will be missed, but one thing is true; whenever you see a purple gravel truck coming down the hwy, we will always think of Jim.

Condolences
The Michell Family
Daryl, Karen , Donna , April , Kyle and Trevor and all the rest of the extended Michell family

Our condolences go out to all of Jim's family. I grew up with Jim and his siblings in Brentwood Bay. We played basketball & baseball throughout our junior years, I also remember getting a job setting skeet out Colwood way where Jim's dad shot skeet and trap.
Very sad to hear of his passing. He truly was a great guy.

Well...where does one begin to talk about Jim. I met Jim when I was a young girl. Best buds with my Pops. His hunting partner as well. I baby sat for Raegan as a new baby. Jim was always a presence in our family home. We did several camping trips over the years. Always a good time. Lots of laughter, and his quick wit.
Oh the memories...
RIP Jim

I played ball with Jim some years back. My recollections are twofold: his quick and ready smile, and a rifle-like arm. Anyone who ran on him did so at their peril.

May he go to the big ball diamond in the sky.
