Joan ROGERS Obituary

She was born on July 10, 1946 in Victoria, B.C. and was proud to be a life-long resident in the 'Garden City'.

As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, her commitment to basic family values gave Joan the strength and wisdom which guided her through a variety of life's events.

She was predeceased by her son Tony and a grand-daughter, Miriah.

She is survived by her husband Jim, two sons Grant and Danny, four grandchildren and one great grandson.

Joan spent many years in the hospitality industry eventually moving on to a career with the District of Saanich before retiring in 2008. In retirement, she enjoyed participating in local city events most notably volunteering in the annual Victoria Jazz Party. In her quieter moments, in front of the TV, you would find her focused on anything related to figure skating or curling. In fact, she was known to throw a rock or two in her day. Fond memories of walks on the 'Breakwater', the trips to Mexico, Palm Springs, a variety of cruises and just spending time with family and friends all contributed to her contentment with a life well lived.

She will be remembered for her kindness, patience and gentle spirit. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the many lives she touched. She will be missed.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Doctors and caregivers who attended to her needs during this difficult time, and especially the Nurses and staff at the Victoria Hospice for the kindness, caring and comfort they provided during her short stay.

It was Joan's wish that there be no service or Celebration of Life. Instead, she would be grateful for any contribution made to the Victoria Hospice Society.
