Johanna Peeters Obituary

PEETERS, Johanna H.
November 28, 1928 - May 14, 2023
At Peace …
Jean immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands in 1954 with her husband, two small children and many trunks of memories. Adjusting to a new world was not easy but with hard work and determination a new life was established.
Jean was proud to have been a foster mother to many children that needed a safe home. Throughout the years, she was also an active member of several local social groups: The Dutch Club, The Canadian Scottish, Ladies Auxiliary and others were all recipients of her fancy sandwiches.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Hans (1993), son Jon (2015), all seven of her siblings and her longtime friend Alan Dalby (2015). Jean is survived by her daughter Elly, son-in-law Garry, five granddaughters: Andrea, Shawna, Laura, Jacqueline and Nicole - as well as five great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to her longtime friends Hank and Phyllis Lowe, Norma Coell and many others for their unwavering support and friendship throughout the years.
Thanks to the nurses, doctors and health associates at VGH Acute Care 6 North for the attention given to Jean. She enjoyed entertaining the staff with her nightly escapades.
Jean, you are dearly missed.

The Canadian Scottish Regiment Women´s Auxiliary sends their condolences to your family. Although Jean seldom attended the meetings as she got older, she was always remembered for her generosity and support throughout the years. Rest In Peace Jean, you will be missed and fondly remembered..

Elly, Garry & Family - We are so sorry to hear of Jeannie's passing. Our family was so very grateful for the love, companionship and understanding she had for Dad in his latter years. There were times that were not easy. As I am thinking about the memories one comes to mind. Dad yelling "Jeannie, Jeannie, Jeannie" and as he turns around he says quietly "Oh, there you are". Dad thought the world of all Jean's family and was always talking about how smart her grandchildren were and how Gary was always helping out around the house. We still have Dad's treasured mustang and I can see Dad, Jeannie and the dog driving around site-seeing on a Sunday. Jean rest in peace.
