We were all so sorry to hear of John's passing. I have many fond memories of our Aquarian group and the good times we all had. John will be fondly remembered.
Much love to Liza and the entire family.

We had the honour of meeting John through my uncle, Bill Smith. When we made the decision to move to Victoria in 2011, my Uncle Bill said "You have to connect with my friend John Austin, he will give you a warm welcome to Victoria". Warm welcome indeed. Just as it said in the obituary, John and Liza invited us into their home and always made us feel like life long friends. We will always have fond memories of the, far too short, time that we knew him. Much love to Liza and family. Hugs.

Thinking of you, Liza, along with John, Alex and Casey as we recall our connections through SMUS. God bless you all as you continue to take care of the next generation.

I have many fond memories of John. The Friday Open tour of Ireland in 2007 was the greatest of all of the many golf experiences that I enjoyed with John. From record breaking heat to the nastiest of Irish golf conditions, John ensured that each round was celebrated with either a formal dinner at the club or the Irish version of the traditional post round Friday Open drinks. What I admired about John is he had that way of connecting with you. However brief your interaction was with him, you left feeling better for it.
Perhaps the words of his favourite author, John le Carré best captures the essence of John.
"The fact that you can only do a little is no excuse for doing nothing."
Rest In Peace my friend.

I had the pleasure of working with John in Oak Bay RBC. He was so gracious and supportive of whatever your goal was. A memory I have is I actually locked/armed him in the branch for the night, thinking I was the last person to leave. I did this not once, but twice over 2 months. This meant when he left it set off ALL the alarms. I'm sure it was completely irritating at the time, but he had a sense of humor about it and was understanding.
We will miss you John, Sarah.

My memories of John are from working with him at RBC as a mortgage specialist in the early 2000s. He was a very kind man with a great sense of humour. He will be missed.
