We were so sorry to hear of Johns passing. He was a true friend and mentor. He always had a quick smile a humorous story to lighten the mood when things got serious. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Oh..o. o..- dear - I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. Dear Lynda - when I received your Christmas card the other day - it crossed my mind that the usual message and update wasn't there and I wondered if all was well. I feel heart broken for the loss of John, he was such a wonderful friend and leader. He will be missed by us all - my Afcent friends and extended family are now so few and the sadness is overwhelming. Stay strong and sending prayers and remembering the fabulous times we shared. On afternoon I was having lunch at Milestones and John happened to sit beside my partner and I. It was apparent to me that through our long conversation that John was one of those exceptional people who possessed a special heart and warmth in spite of his understanding of how the real world worked. His abilities to navigate through a complex world while maintaining what was obviously a deep, enduring compassion is rare. He stands among the world's best.

Dearest Lynda and girls,
My heart is broken for you all at the incredible loss of sweet Granda. He was such a pillar of humour, kindness, and love and showed all of this to me and to Llola. We will miss him and we send our love and Llola says big hugs and tickles' to Oma. ❤

We forged a friendship in Calgary, where the Guthrie's soon became like family, who were far away. Loved John's sense of humour, while making a point. Lynda & I we're having coffee when John joined us. Crisply pressed pants & his epaulets on his shoulders....bare shoulders! Oops! Lynda popped up f was still laughing as she quickly ironed a shirt! We reconnected many times over the years, each time like we'd never parted, Our luncheons here, were filled with laughter & shared memories, which we now hold in our hearts. Thank you, good friend. Rest easy.
