John Lee Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and son, John Ngok Kuam Lee who passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025.

John is survived by his wife Margaret; mother Sun Yau Ng; daughters, Christina (Michael), Diana (Simon), Celina (James); grandson Eisen; grandpups Charlie and Guinness; sister-in-law Lucie; brother-in-law Alexander; niece Rhiannon (Bobby); nephew Travis; grand nephew Jaxon and many extended family members.

He was born June 8, 1950 in Toy Shan, Guangdong, China. In February 1970, John immigrated to Victoria, BC. John built a life rooted in hard work, dedication and love for his family. He spent his early years working in the restaurant industry, at BC Ferries as a chef and then as a seaman and later owned multiple restaurants.

John took great joy in cooking and sharing meals with his loved ones and friends. He also enjoyed horse racing, playing mah jong, watching Chinese cop dramas and most of all spending time surrounded by his family. His generosity, love for good food and sense of humor will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

The family extends their sincere thanks for all the kind words, support, and shared memories, and is profoundly grateful for the exceptional care provided by the amazing medical team on the North 6th Floor at Victoria General Hospital. A private family service was held in his honor on October 10, 2025. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in John's honor. The family kindly requests privacy during this difficult time.

Forever in our hearts, John, your warmth and love will always be remembered.

I worked with Johnny on deck for several years at BC Ferries. We all had the greatest time, with lots of fun and laughs. Many fond memories there. Delmonico restaurant too. Rest in peace my friend..
