John MACINTYRE Obituary

MACINTYRE, Judge John L. John Livingstone Macintyre passed away peacefully in North Vancouver on December 31, 2011, at the age of 87 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Jean (nee Bell); by son Donald, daughter-in-law Sophie and granddaughter Iona in Singapore, and by younger son Duncan and daughter-in-law Rie in Tokyo. He is also survived by his sister Ailsa Whyte in Milngavie, Scotland. Judge Macintyre was born in Glasgow and immigrated to Canada in 1954. He met Jean in Montreal and they moved to Vancouver after marrying in 1955. He spent 17 years as a criminal court prosecutor in Vancouver and Victoria and sat as a provincial court judge in Kamloops and Vancouver for 13 years. Much respected by his colleagues for his fairness as a prosecutor and a judge, he retired in 1988. He will always be remembered for his sense of humour and his passionate interest in classical music. He is greatly missed by his family and many friends. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. 646218
