John Nyhan Memoriam

John of Victoria, BC born December 14, 1939, Clonakilty, Co Cork, Ireland. Passed away peacefully on the morning of November 29, 2016, at Cowichan District Hospital, Duncan, BC. Survived by wife Margaret, children Sean (Terry), Kelly (Ronette), Erin, Tara-Leigh (Jeffrey), and Kerry, and step-children Keri-Lee (Doug), and Kris, and grandchildren Brendan, Rebecca, Lucas, Taylor, Sara, Eunbai, Connor, Faye, Gemma, Alex, Emily, and TJ. John immigrated to Canada from Ireland as a young man alone in the world. He built a life for himself and his family that could only be described as colourful. He eventually settled on Vancouver Island, which bore the closest resemblance he could find to the home he had left in Ireland. He had a great love of poetry, literature, fine food, and a tidy tumbler of Irish Mist Whiskey. We will miss his tremendous sense of humour, his quick wit, and most of all, his enduring love for his children and grandchildren. His was the road less travelled.
