John Nylander Obituary

With sadness, we announce the passing of John Nylander, on March 3, 2024. Born in Duncan in 1934, John grew up in the town of Lake Cowichan. In the early 1950s, he joined the Air Force and served for three years. Years later he loved telling stories of being sent to Resolute Bay. After leaving the Air Force, he took up an apprenticeship in auto body and later worked at various shops in the Victoria area. After many years of dealing with broken cars, he took up early retirement and turned his talents to woodworking making all sorts of furniture projects.
John is survived by his wife, Marjorie, children, Gary, Ron (Sharan) Linda (Bob), and Rob (Ian), six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and sister Rosalie. John will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Many thanks to the nurses and caregivers from Island Health who tended to his daily needs.

There where so many memories to talk about , all good from toddler to little league out at Luxton Field to learning to drive the big ol blue Chevy biscayne on the ol river rd in Okanagan Falls campsite and of course working together for many years side by side .....RIP pops lucky to have been by your side till the end

My Dad was the watering man for my Mom's extensive gardens. It was one of the most important jobs in the yard, water gives life and he loved watching living things grow. I miss you Dad and no one will be able to make plants grow like you did. Love you always.
