Josephine Lim Obituary

LIM, Josephine M.
1942 - 2024
Josephine passed away peacefully on January 17, 2024 after a brief stay at Royal Jubilee Hospital (CTU) and Victoria Hospice with husband, Norman and daughter, Michelle by her side.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 56 years, her daughter, Michelle, older brothers, Wah (Fong) in Malaysia, Ray (Glynnis) in Perth, Australia, younger brother Paul (Mona) in Waterloo, Ontario, and four nephews and a niece and many grandnephews and grandnieces.
Born and raised in Malaysia, she obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. (mathematics) in Christchurch, NZ on the Colombo Plan scholarships. She taught in Malaysia for a year and then came to UBC to complete her Ph.D. where she met her loving husband, Norman. She did her post doctoral degree at McGill University in Montreal, then she taught at Dawson College (2 years), and then UVic (2 years). She enjoyed a professional career at BC Assessment Authority in statistical analysis, and then business analysis in the IT department. She was very involved in her professional organization IAAO (International Association of Assessing Officers). She travelled extensively and was elected President of IAAO in 2009.
Josephine always looked beautiful whether in casual boating attire or dressed for a formal event. She enjoyed sewing and made all her formal ball gowns through the years. She loved dancing. After retirement, she enjoyed reading, sewing, boating, world cruising, and travelling to IAAO conferences in the US. She loved meeting people of all walks of life and learning about their cultures. She will be missed by all those who knew her or were touched by her, in her career path.
Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and health care workers on the CTU, RJH, and the caring staff at Victoria Hospice.

There will be a private service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Royal Jubilee Hospital or Victoria Hospice.
