Julie Davis Obituary

DAVIS, Julie A.
May 8, 1948 - February 17, 2026

After fighting the effects of a stroke, Julie passed away with her husband and sister in-law by her side. Her final days were filled with love and comfort of her many friends who were able to visit her.
Julie was born in Vancouver B.C. and there attended Queen Elizabeth Elementary and Lord Byng Secondary Schools. She then graduated from UBC and began her teaching career in Victoria. Julie taught in Saanich School District, and early on was in charge of programs for gifted students. She was Vice Principal at Claremont Secondary School before moving to Sooke School District as Principal, where she oversaw the building of Journey Middle School. In the midst of all of this, Julie went on to achieve her Masters of Education from UVIC.
After retirement Julie taught at the UVIC faculty of education. There she spent many years instructing and supervising young teachers. As was evident by the many notes and letters written to her over the years, Julie was respected and loved by everyone that she worked with. She had so many loving friends, not only because she was such a social being but also because she truly cared about people. She was a beautiful person who was always smiling and laughing. She shall be missed by so many who loved her dearly.
Julie is survived by her husband Ian, niece Lisa Jones (Al), nephew Michael Davis (Amy), cousins Laura Martin (Greg Field), Barbara Low (David), Bruce McLeod (Penny), Stewart Mcleod (Penny), Donald McLeod (Christine), and many great nieces and nephews. Julie is predeceased by her parents John and Mona Davis, and her brother Craig.

Julie was a mentor to me in my early years at Claremont. She had that little bit extra when it came to her rapport and connection with students and staff. She was kind, thoughtful and inspiring. Ian...I am so sorry for your loss. She has left a void.

I am very sorry to hear of my cousin Julie´s passing. While we were not close latterly, we were as children. Julie was my mum´s brother´s daughter. Teaching was in the family blood and I am happy to see how loved she was. She is now with her beloved parents and brother. My deepest condolences to Ian, Lisa and Michael and families.

Ian,
Word´s cannot express my feelings of gratitude for the support that Julie and you gave to me and my mother in the last month of her life. I can only hope that you have those in your life to provide the same support. Julie was a dynamo who made sure that the people around her were loved and cared for and I felt that in my heart. My family´s thoughts are with you in this time of remembrance.

Julie was such a beautiful soul who had a gift of making you feel noticed and supported. She was selfless and poured her heart and soul into supporting others in reaching their potential. Whether that was when she´s was working with children or supporting students to become teachers, she would jump at the opportunity without hesitation. Julie was my mentor and helped me to achieve my dream job of becoming a teacher and now Counsellor.
Julie left a mark in my life and will be greatly missed

My sincerest condolences to Ian and family. I enjoyed Julie´s sense of humour and positive energy when we worked, side by side, as Curriculum consultants at the SAANICH School Board. Again when our paths crossed, while both teaching, at UVic I always enjoyed our conversations. Julie will be missed by many. With Heartfelt thoughts... Pam

Julie was the most caring and generous woman. There must be thousands of students whose lives were enriched because of who she was and the work she did. The world is a better place because she was in it; we are better because of knowing her. Her legacy lives on.
Much love and condolences to Ian and all those who loved our Julie.

Ian, my sincerest condolences

I had the privilege of working with Julie as school based administrators at Ruth King Elementary. Julie was an amazing and supportive colleague. I admired how she was able to connect with students, parents, and staff. Julie gave all the students respect, dignity, and unconditional support. Every child was made to feel special and to be seen and heard.

Julie was very instrumental in building and supporting a culture of Ruth King `Rocks´ where she brought people together and everyone belonged and mattered through her building of relationships, developing connections, and being responsible in a caring, nurturing, and supportive learning environment.

Julie taught me a lot for which I am very appreciative !
