June Grove Obituary

Born to Catherine and David in Regina, Saskatchewan - June was a bona fide 'Prairie Girl' until moving to Victoria in her late teens. From the moment she met her future husband Douglas on a blind date, they never looked back - and married in 1956.

June was always busy: busy being the best daughter, wife, mother and mother-in-law that any of us could have ever hoped for - all while having a career and being instrumental in the co-ordination of the Kinsmen's Mothers' March Campaign for the lower island.

An avid reader, gardener, crossword aficionado, sports fan, nature and dog lover - her many other interests and activities included involvement with Girl Guides and Brownies, learning sign language, tai chi, camping, bowling and playing cards.

A wonderful conversationalist, June was genuinely interested in others. She was often sought out for advice and was known in the family as 'the wise one'.

June was the most positive, strong and loving lady with a 'glass full' attitude.

Mum was able to live independently until three days prior to her passing. It is with the utmost appreciation that we thank the doctors and nurses at Victoria General Hospital for making sure Mum was provided with exceptional care. Their kindness and thoughtfulness will not be forgotten.

Leaving behind to celebrate her life well-lived, and to honour her memory are: daughter Nancy; son-in-law Stan Davis; two special grand-dogs; cherished sister-in-law Lois - and many loved nieces, nephews and their families.

We are fortunate to have had so many fun and happy memories that we will treasure forever - and know she will be with us in our hearts wherever we are. Always loved. Always remembered.

Mum, we will be sure to look for the rainbows and the hummingbirds. XO

Auntie June, You were such an inspiration to me. Your kind and positive words and actions, were a gift to myself and many others.
You were always truthful in your well given advice, which was so appreciated.
You were one of the smartest people I have known.
I will miss our many visits over lunches, and tea times. Our visits together always meant so much to me.
You were well loved, and will be well remembered.
I love you AJ,
Your Niece Kelly
