Keith ROLFE Obituary

Keith Charles Rolfe, FCPA, FCA
Born: Wawota, Saskatchewan Sept. 4, 1928
Died: Victoria, British Columbia Dec. 7, 2023

With sadness, we announce the passing of Keith Charles Rolfe. He lived a life filled with love, adventure, travel, children, dogs and passion. He will be deeply missed by his beloved partner and wife of 39 years, Angela, son Jay (Margaret), sister Gwen Perry, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many beloved extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Debi Christensen (Barry) in 2017.

Born in Wawota, Saskatchewan to Marguerite and Charlie Rolfe, he graduated from Wawota High School and obtained his Chartered Accountant's designation in 1953.

He was Manager of the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club, during "the fabulous fifties" and has a Grey Cup ring to prove it. Three years with Schlumberger in Houston followed and then it was time to head "home" and he returned to Calgary to join his oldest friend, Bob Jacobs, in practice as Jacobs Rolfe & Co. A merger with Deloitte in 1977 allowed him to obtain his license as a Trustee in Bankruptcy. He was National Partner until mandatory retirement in 1991. Retirement opened up new opportunities in volunteering, firstly as a member of CESO, 6 years as a Lay Bencher with the Law Society of Alberta, and Chair of Persons with Developmental Disabilities, among others.

He and Angela moved to Sidney, B.C., in 2006, where he served on the Board of Beacon Community Services in Sidney for 6 years, his last year as Chair. He said this fine organization was a hidden gem on the island. He was an active member of St. Paul's United Church and Saanich Peninsula Probus Club.

At the time of his death he was a member of the Saskatchewan, Alberta and B C Institutes of Chartered Professional Accountants. In June of 2023 he and Angela travelled to Calgary for a luncheon where he was recognized for his 70 year anniversary as a member of the Alberta Institute.

His main hobbies were golf (a member of Earl Grey Golf Course in Calgary for 40 years), playing the stock market - according to Keith "not always well" - and small stakes friendly poker. In a material sense, he said his favourite things were his U.K. passport and his 1956 Grey Cup ring.

He and Angela enjoyed many wonderful travels and he said there weren't many places left to visit on his bucket list.

Keith said "it has been a wonderful life, I just wish I could do it all over again".

His was a life well lived and he will be missed.

A Celebration of his life will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 2410 Malaview Avenue in Sidney, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 28th. Live stream available through St. Paul's website. Please contact family for details. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation, in his memory, to Saanich Peninsula Hospital, or another charity of your choice.

Angela, so sorry for your loss of Keith. I so enjoyed, and lucky enough, to have worked for him as his assistant for many years, and getting to know you as well. He was a lovely, wonderful man who will be missed by many.

Angela and Family.

Quincy, Susan, Marjie and I tuned into Keith's memorial service. What a wonderful tribute to Keith. Jay, Ross and Greg really captured the essence of his strong character, solid values, integrity, sense of humour and warm personality. What a truly wonderful guy!
We wish we had seen more of you both over these past years, but the service brought back many fond memories.
Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Hello Angela, I just recently saw Keith´s obituary and was surprised to see he was born in Wawota one year after my father - Clive McCord. Dad had 2 older brothers- Don and George, and their parents were John and Dorothy. They owned the gas station. My dad also lived in Calgary - in Lakeview near the Earl Grey Golf Course - until his death in 1988. He and his brother George died in a small plane crash just outside Wawota while they were travelling from Calgary to Winnipeg. Of course it is too late to ask Keith if he knew dad and his family, but I wonder if his sister may remember them. Dad´s second wife was from Wawota too. Her name was Norma Weatherald. I am sorry for your loss. Keith sounds like he was a lovely person.

My condolences to Angela and the family. I met Keith through his time with Beacon Community Services. He had both a sharp mind and wit - both of which I highly appreciated. Indeed, his was a life well lived and his contributions enriched the community greatly. Lovely photo of Angela and Keith shared in these memories.

Angela, we were so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. You were so kind to my father when he was in Saan Pens palliative care ward when you and he realized you'd lived around the corner from each other in Leeds. We never met Keith but knew how deeply you cared for him. So very sorry for your loss. Susan and Keijo

Dear Angela, my heart is with you and the whole family. A Treasured Man is now a treasured angle. Grant and I were blessed by his friendship. The fun times you and I had with our "Saskatchewan Boys".

I have lovely memories of Keith, particularly in London and much later in Bordeaux where you'd stopped on a cruise. It's his lovely smile always there and he loved you so much, you could see it in his eyes. I send you, dear Angela, my deepest condolences and love, BXXX

I have several very happy memories of Keith, through Angela who was a flatmate of mine all those years ago in London. I met Keith in London, with Angela and again in Bordeaux (while they were on a cruise) where I live in France. They were a 'made for each other' couple, meant to be together. I'll never forget Keith's lovely smile, God bless him.

I had a chance to work with Keith in my time with DH&S, he headed the firm's Insolvency practice in Calgary at that time. A very personable fellow and very knowlegeble and practical, a pleasure to work with. My condolences go to his family.
