Kenneth Comer Obituary

COMER, Kenneth John
October 28, 1938 - September 13, 2025
Ken passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Kelowna General Hospital.
Ken was born in Victoria, BC to Joe Comer and Hilda Comer (nee Rickman). He was the eldest of the 5 Comer children. He grew up in the Lakehill area of Saanich.
At the age of 11 Ken started working at the Clatworthy Dairy and continued to work at the farm until he graduated from Victoria High School. After he graduated he was hired on in 1957 at BC Electric. This was the beginning of a long 40 year career at BC Electric/BC Hydro.
Ken met his future wife Nadya Gibson in 1959 and they were married in 1960. Their 3 children arrived between 1962-65.
Ken and family moved to Westbank in 1969 where they built their home and had a small farm. Ken retired in 1997 from BC Hydro and Nadya and himself continued to live at the family home enjoying grandchildren, friends, and the Westbank "way of life".
Ken was predeceased by Nadya in 2004, brothers Fred Comer, Robert Comer (Heather) sisters Maureen McQuarrie, Margaret Bassett, Brother in-laws Charlie McQuarrie, Brian Bassett and Sergei Gibson (Joyce).
Ken is survived by his children Tia Comer, Richard Comer (Debbie) and Tanya Comer; grandchildren Alysha Bartlett (Alex), Dillon Lind (Nicole), Cory Comer (Sophie), Tianna Comer; great grandchildren Kye, Dawson, Denver, and a baby girl on her way soon.
Ken was a devoted husband, supportive father, respected co-worker and loyal friend.
We will remember him relaxing on his deck overlooking Okanagan Lake, enjoying a cold beer with family and friends while Haggard sang in the background.

Goodbye Ken, Dad, Grandpa, Friend.
Good Job on a life well lived.

I'm the elder son of Art and Hilda Clatworthy.
Ken worked on the family farm for my dad and grandfather on Ambassador Ave. In the north Quadra area of Saanich.
I was about 10 yrs old and I think Ken was about14 or 15. Most times he would do the evening milking of about 30 plus head. Ken broke me in of the milking and feeding of the cattle.
I have fond memories of Ken. My deepest sympathy to his family.
