Kenneth Hesketh Obituary
Ken passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2024. He is survived by his wife Florence, his children Laurie, Jenny (Frank), and Jacqueline (Alan), his grandchildren Maija, Dylan, Braeden, Teagan, Brooke, James, and great-grandson Thomas.
Ken was raised in Three Hills Alberta. He was an oil man. He started early, working as a roughneck on the drilling rigs during summer vacation, earning enough to put himself through university. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned a master's degree in petroleum engineering. On returning to Alberta, like many young engineers, he was initiated into the industry by spending time sitting on drilling rigs in remote areas of Northern Alberta, in extreme weather conditions. He met some of his best friends during this time. He later moved up the corporate ladder and became Vice President of Ranger Oil. His position involved traveling to oil centers around the world. Much of his time was spent in the U.K., taking care of Ranger's interest in the North Sea. He left Ranger to start his own private company.
In 1981, he made the move to Vancouver Island with his family where he enjoyed the beauty of west coast living. His passions were his family, jazz, and golf.
A part of him always missed Alberta.
Our family would like to thank the staff All Care in Sidney BC who cared for him for his last 1 1/2 years.
