Kenneth STEWART Obituary

STEWART, Kenneth Gordon
March 25, 1931 - December 6, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ken at the handsome age of 93. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 75 years, Norene; daughters Diane (Tom), Carol (Millyn) and Janet (Kirk); sister Barbara; grandchildren Jeff (Lisa), Tyler (Romina), Jared (Jennie), Megan, Paul (Chelsey), Kendra (Chris); 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, cousins, in-laws and special friends.

Ken lived in Victoria his entire life where he built his first home and raised a family. He was a talented woodworker using those skills to improve his homes and his children's. He loved to travel and enjoyed his many trips with Norene, close friends and family. Ken's career with the BC Liquor Control Board left a lasting effect in every aspect of buying and having a drink, including championing the licensing of neighborhood pubs.

Ken was passionate about golf. He was a member of Gorge Vale Golf Club for almost 70 years! Over those years he served as President of Gorge Vale, Board Member of the BC Golf Assoc., President of the BC Lefthanders and Governor of the Royal Canadian Golf Association.

Ken embraced life with enthusiasm. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed reading and learning, and was known to have strong opinions at times. Above all, he loved spending time with cherished family and friends, usually with glass in hand.

Cheers to a long life well lived!

Heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Amica on the Gorge for their kindness and gentle care.

No service at Ken's request.

I had the pleasure of working with Ken at Liquor Control Board in the 70's. He was always very respectful, kind and a Team Player with his Co-Workers. My condolences to his family. RIP Ken Stewart.

I have fond memories of my Uncle. He always greeted you with a warm smile and a big hug. And would always ask "How´s life treating you?" When you asked him the same he would respond with "Life couldn't get any better". And that is my memory of a man who looked at life with the glass half full. I can say, on behalf of his sister, and all of her family that he will be deeply missed. Our condolences.

I worked at the Liquor Control Board from 1968 to 1973. Ken always had a smile for everyone. He was enjoyable to be around. He was definitely part of my happy memories of the LCB.

Ken was the best neighbor anyone could possible have. Not only would he pick up all the fallen branches after a windstorm in his yard, I would often see him in my backyard picking up my branches. He would fix things around my yard whenever he saw something needing repaired.
I could go on about the many happy hours I spent with Ken and Norene after a long hard day at work. I truly missed them both when it was time for them to move to a smaller place.
Ken you were dearly loved by many and will be sadly missed.
