YEREX, Laura
It is with great sorrow we announce, that after a courageous battle against lung cancer, our beloved Laura passed away at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria on August 2, 2025, at the age of 66 years.
Laura was predeceased by brother Chris Yerex, father Max Yerex and husband Javier Guardo. Laura is survived by her mother Lorna, daughter Raquel (Justin), granddaughter Chloe, siblings Tom (Judy), Ken (Karen) and Grace (Marvin), brother -in-law Nandi (Mareli) and many family and friends in BC, Canada and worldwide, especially Spain.
Laura left school at an early age and headed out into the world to make her way. Laura worked in sales (magazines and photography) before globetrotting and meeting the love-of-her-life Javier Guardo in Spain. They lived in Spain for 3 years, where Raquel was born before returning to Canada to reside in Prince Rupert, which they called home for over 30 years. Laura worked for Trans-Provincial Airlines, BC Ferries ad the Canadian Coast Guard in Prince Rupert before gaining a position with the Coast Guard in Victoria, where she and Javier moved in 2019.
Laura was very family-oriented and loved family get-togethers. Laura also cherished the many friendships that she shared with everyone over the years.
Our family thanks everyone for their kindness and support during this time with special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, in Laura's honour, donations may be made to the Canucks Autism Network or a charity of your choice.
