Lawrence Pazder Obituary

PAZDER On March 5, 2004 Dr. Lawrence Henry Pazder suddenly and peacefully passed away at home of a heart attack, at the age of 67. To know Larry was to be loved. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, a compassionate physician and an advocate for the homeless. He was known for his deep and abiding faith, his boundless energy, his selflessness and generosity, his love of the outdoors, and his sense of humour. Larry had the profound gift to connect deeply with everyone he met; he had friends and family from every walk of life who will miss him deeply. Born on April 30, 1936 in Edmonton, to his beloved Stanley and Helen Pazder. He graduated from University of Alberta School of Medicine.After returning from two years of tropical medicine in Africa, he specialized in psychiatry at McGill University. He helped thousands of people during his 40 years as a respected psychiatrist. He was the founder and president of the Anawim Companion Society. His passions were gardening, the Wine Guild, hunting, fishing, travelling and especially the Canucks. His love of life will live on in each of us. He leaves behind his wife and soulmate Michelle, his children, Lawrence (Sue), Theresa (Derek), David, John (Judith) and Tertia (Rick); grandchildren, Alex, James, Justin, Eric, Ethan, Nolan, Ellen, John and Benjamin; brothers, Ron (Lillian) and Henry (Susan) as well as many nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his brother Ted and sister Virginia. Prayers will be offered at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 4049 Gordon Head Road, Victoria, BC on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 12, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Father MikeFavera officiating. Reception and interment to follow. Donations in Larry's honour may be made to the Anawim Companion Society, 973 Caledonia Street, Victoria, BC, V8T 1E7.
