Lenore DiFiore Turmel Obituary
On Monday morning, our intrepid time-weaver, Lenore embarked on her next exciting adventure through the Universe. A long-time resident of Victoria, Lenore was an actress, a singer, an artist, an expert baker, a novelist, a constant friend, and a beloved mother to Elise and (son-in-law) Tyler, and devoted Nonna to Sophia. She was born in Akron, Ohio, the beautiful daughter of Mary and John DiFiore and loving sister to Alan and Marlene. At the age of 16 Lenore sang with a Gospel group in Harlem on the day that Martin Luther King marched on Washington. Her desire to act and sing led her to New York where she performed in Summer Stock Theater. She also became a seamstress and costume designer for the Theater Company of Boston and the San Francisco Opera Company. After moving to Victoria with her husband, Paul, Lenore worked with her mother Mary to create the famous cheesecakes at Pagliacci's Restaurant. She then went on to craft the equally delectable cheesecakes at Southside Restaurant by day and performed with the legendary Southside All Stars R&B Band by night. Her two favorite holidays were Christmas and Halloween which she brought to life for her family in all their childhood wonder. Lenore believed in magic, the power of rare gem stones, and the immortal music of the Spheres. Her magnificent voice is now singing with that cosmic symphony and will forever be heard as a precious aria in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Victoria Hospice in recognition of their exceptional care. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
