Leonard WESTRUM Obituary
WESTRUM Leonard Frederick died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on July 9, 2003 at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital. He was born on August 12, 1913 on the NW 1/4 of section 27, township 13, range 24 west of the second meridian near the villages of Briercrest and Hearne Saskatchewan. He is predeceased by his brother Marvin, parents Selmer and Mary, brother Helmer and granddaughter Kyla. Dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Ila, son Michael (Maureen), daughter Heather (Peter) Player, grandchildren Mark (Karen) Westrum, Scott (Tracy) Westrum, Lindsay and Brianna Player. Sisters Cleo King and Helen Tansley of White Rock. Dad never lost his love for the Prairies and his association with farming and was extremely proud of his Saskatchewan/ Norwegian heritage. He and Mom established Westrum Lumber in 1953 a business now run in part by his son and grandsons. He enjoyed his retirement fishing, golfing woodworking and talking with people. He was always busy at something. Our family would like to send a special and heart felt 'Thank you' to Dr. Wray and the nursing staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital for their great care and affection shown to Granpa. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 2:00pm. at the Central Saanich Senior Centre, 1229 Clarke Road, Brentwood Bay. Rev. Wilf Waddell officiating.
