Les STEPHENSON Obituary

STEPHENSON, Les The world lost a beautiful soul on June 7th, 2017. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Les passed away at the age of 68. The courage, determination and dignity with which he both fought the disease and faced the end were a great source of inspiration to those around him. He was passionate in his fight, just as he was in everything else in life. Les was an amazing person, and he will always be a hero to many of us. He was a wonderful, loving husband and father. He had many close friends, and some of his most cherished friendships were formed with co-workers during his 25 years working in the jail and at the probation office. Les had many passions and interests in his life. He was very sports minded, participating in many, and he followed the Mariners and Seahawks religiously. Go Hawks! His knowledge of baseball was nothing short of amazing, being able to quote stats going back to the early 1900's. As well, he loved music, especially listening to vinyl with his friends. He also took wine very seriously, loving to share his tastes and knowledge with anyone willing to listen. Les will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. His positivity and passion, even in the worst of days, were inspiring in a way far too profound for words alone to describe. It is with great sadness that we announce his passing, but it is with even greater happiness that we will always remember him...it's just a box of rain...

Dear Jayne,

Words are inadequate to express our sympathy for you, and how much Les will be missed. We so enjoyed our times with you both when we were living in Victoria. Les was a terrific, kind and special fellow, and we will always remember him in our hearts. We are sending our love, and best wishes for a wonderful Celebration of Life for sweet Les.

Much love, Darian and Michael

Jayne, this is a beautifully written tribute to a wonderful, gentle and sensitive man with a great laugh. He adored you and it was very obvious from the start. I'm happy he was in your life and feel fortunate to have been at your wedding 30 years ago. Seeing him last October it was hard to believe the time was so near. As Billy Joel said "only the good die young".

Condolences to the family. I was fortunate to work with Les. Such a pleasure it was. Long story, he came to help me with an assaultive client. He said it was no big deal while I tolld him "you will always be a hero in my heart". And that is how I'll remember him.

Oh Jayne, my heart is breaking for you and the whole family. Les was a gentle, funny and wonderful man and he will be sorely missed. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to watch a few of those baseball games with him and go through his music memorabilia by his side. That meant a lot to me.

Sending you love, hugs and peaceful happy memories of a lifetime of fun and love with him.

See you soon, my friend xo

We miss your wry sense of humour on our Thursday afternoon golf games. Yes, you're correct, 'we're not that good anyways'; however, we always had fun regardless of the jibes that we threw at each other. Jim, Bruce and I had a shot of JD on the 9th hole at Metchosin and poured one for you into the cup. Hoping you card lots of birdies, eagles and aces! Your friend, Larry
