Fred, Ehren and Alexandra - I was so sorry to read about Lisa. A steadfast Metchosinite, she was a great horse woman, and was someone who had such zest for life. Please accept my sincere condolences. Metchosin has lost one of its special residents.

Heartfelt condolences to Fred, Alex, and Ehren, plus the many others who share your bereavement, including me. Lisa was an especially bright light among my colleagues, the creative teacher next door to my own classroom for many years.

I am shocked and very saddened by Lisa´s passing. What a wonderful person, gone way too soon. Lisa meant so much to everyone who came in her presence. I will miss seeing her around the community. Thank you Lisa for supporting my small business for so many years. Thank you for your tender ways looking after our kids at Hans Helgesen for so many years. My heart goes out to your family, I heard so many wonderful things about your family over the years. May you rest in peace Lisa. You are very much loved by so many.

Fred, Ehren, and Alexandra - I'm so sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of Lisa and our early days together. We met at Saseenos in 1983 and became fast friends. Friday afternoons our students could be seen passing notes between us as we laid our weekend plans together. Lisa had boundless amounts of energy, riding her bike from town to Sooke, teaching the day and riding home to complete a 65 km circuit. A 10k run served as her cool down. We spent many weekends at her parents homes in North Van and Sechelt as she loved her mom and dad dearly. She was an avid cook and loved a good oyster feed - the Sooke Oyster Farm was a regular stop for her. Lisa was a 'doer' and loved to experience life. Her many roles spoke to her fine accomplishments as wife, mother, teacher and dear friend. Love and hugs to you.

Lisa was such a vibrant part of our equestrian community and will be truly missed. I feel honoured with the privilege of being Mum to Lisa´s young horse, Romeo, and am determined that his life in sport with me will be part of her legacy. My heartfelt condolences are with all of the Volk family.

Lisa & I became great friends back in 1983
We both shared our love of our horses & all our conversations were pretty much just that.
I always enjoyed our rides out past Matheson Lake area & coming back for tea & great home made muffins. A woman of many attributes not to forget the kindest heart - a true friend indeed

I receive this news with deep sadness. Lisa was also an exceptional artistic gymnast. I trained with her at Flicka Gym Club in the 1970's & she was a wonderful teammate. Wishing her family love and peace at this time. Most certainly she has passed way too soon.

Great memories of Lisa, colleague and teacher! Funny and kind, supportive of all three boys as the navigated school and later in adulthood. Always striving to improve and creative when hitting an obstacle. Our middle son is special needs and he couldn´t pronounce Mrs Volk so she insisted the class could use "Lisa" Just one lasting memory of her and she will be missed

Lisa was my grade 1 teacher and many years later, my sons kindergarten teacher. How fortunate we were to start our education with such a wonderful human being. Thinking of her family during this difficult time.

It is hard to come to terms that I will no longer hear the teachings of my friend yet her lessons in life (and horses) will forever live deep. We met long ago when our daughters were in Pony Club . We would see each other at horse shows with a smile and a quick chat. Little did we know then how connected we would be years later. I am so so grateful to all that lLisa has shown the world of life, passion , determination and kindness
