MESSNER, Lori Ann
On Thursday, August 8, 2024. Lori, loving wife and best friend of Gerry, passed away at age 70 in Victoria, BC.
Lori was born June 26th, 1954 in Calgary, AB to Doug and Dorothy (Mowat) Lamb.
She obtained her nursing diploma at Mount Royal University in 1976. She nursed briefly in Calgary and in 1980 moved to Victoria, BC to continue her nursing career. She received her Bachelor of Science Nursing degree in 1983 from University of Victoria. She nursed in the Hospice unit of Royal Jubilee Hospital for many years and retired from nursing in 1999. She then worked for many years at Bolen Books in Victoria.
In 1981 she met Gerry, a Canadian Navy Sailor and they would get married in 1986. Lori and Gerry had travelling in common and enjoyed sea cruises, a bus tour of Europe, a trip to Nashville and Memphis (both were country and western and Elvis fans), also trips to Reno and Las Vegas and various trips across Canada. They also enjoyed line dancing. Lori was an avid reader and a member of a book club compromised of some of her nursing friends.

Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and all the staff members at the former Oak Bay Lodge, and the Summit Long Term Care Facility for the care and compassion they provided to Lori during her struggle with dementia (Alzheimer's).

At Lori's request, there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a time and place to be determined.
Interment will take place in the Beaver Creek cemetery just north of MacGregor, Manitoba, at a date and time to be determined.
If you wish, donations in Lori's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.

Dear Gerry
I was so very sorry to hear of Lori's passing. She fought such a long battle as she struggled with her dementia. I remember having several visits with her at Bolen's when we were out for family visits. May she now rest in peace, and please know you are in my thoughts.

Lori was such a good friend to Jack's parents...they shared lots of laughs together, and she was always very helpful when it came time to make decisions about future care. I'm sorry for your loss, Gerry.

Gerry, I´m shocked and saddened to hear of Lori´s passing. We worked together at Hospice for many years and were friends outside of work as well. To this day, I still think of Lori whenever I´m at Bolen´s. I can still hear her voice and her laughter.
She´ll always be remembered. Gerry, please know that I´m thinking of you.
