Louise Mallaghan Obituary

MALLAGHAN, Louise
1934 - 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Anne (Doll) Mallaghan on September 10, 2025, at age 91, after a brief illness. Louise was a resident at Mount Saint Mary's care home in Victoria, B.C. Born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on April 12, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Alexis and Cecile (Hudon) Doll.
Louise will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her seven children, as well as her extended family and friends including 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is survived by her children Patti (Will) Couweleers, Julie Rudrick, Michelle (Tim) Dreher, Gwen (Michael) Green, Daniel (Diane) Mallaghan, Eileen (Jim) Caudle, Genny (Dave) Wilson. She is also survived by her sister Diane (Gil) Ranney, and brothers Maurice (Catherine) Doll and Richard (Adele) Doll.
Aside from her parents, Louise is predeceased by her husband Patrick Joseph Mallaghan, and her brother Denis (Ruth) Doll.
A devout Catholic, Louise lived her faith with strength and devotion. She was a prayer warrior for the needs of all she met and an inspiration to all those who experienced her steadfast optimism and joy. She was cheerful and didn't complain, even at the end. Her courageous motto which she demonstrated throughout her life, was "never give up", and "keep your faith". In fact, these were secrets of her long and fulfilling life.
Louise had many interests and hobbies and known for her love of gardening, sewing, reading, including being a fantastic cook. Louise had a sharp wit and a good sense of humour, always ready with a great lesson on a life story. She filled her home with warmth, comfort, and hospitality that touched everyone who gathered at her table.
Louise met Patrick in Regina when Louise worked as a medical secretary and Patrick worked for the Provincial Government. They married June 16th, 1956. They resided in Regina, SK, Paddockwood, SK, Big River, SK, Yorkton SK, and finally settled on Vancouver Island when they retired, enjoying their final years there.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mount Saint Mary's for their excellent care and comfort they gave Louise in her latter years.

Viewing and prayers are to be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, 851 Old Esquimalt Rd., Victoria, October 3rd, 7pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 am, October 4th, at Our Lady Queen of Peace, followed by a reception at 12noon. The internment will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mill Bay at 2:30pm. Flowers gratefully declined and a request for a Mass for the repose of her soul would be welcomed by family.
