Shirley passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025. Born in 1935 in Victoria BC, pre-deceased by her husband Andrew, brother Gorden Bishop and parents Robert and Margaret Bishop. Survived by son Robert McMurray, daughter Joanne Malcolm and son-in-law Dave Malcolm, grandchildren Katelyn, Chris and Stephanie and loving great-grandchildren.
Shirley attended Cedar Hill Elementary and Doncaster Schools in Victoria. The family moved to Vancouver in 1948 where Shirley graduated from south Burnaby High School.
She was employed with the BC Telephone Company as a long-distance Ship to Shore Operator; Medical Services Association in Vancouver as a Data Input Clerk; and upon returning to Victoria was employed with BC Medical Services Plan, as a Data Entry Clerk. With downsizing she was transferred to Hospital Programs (Regional Services) and served as a Records Management Clerk until retirement.
Shirley was an active member and volunteer of Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons. As a member of Brentwood Bay and Victoria squadrons she obtained a Full Certification. She served Victoria Squadron as Commander, and later became District Commander for Vancouver Island South District. Shirley also served on the Strata Council for Park Royal Place for many years, seeing it through both a remediation and roof replacement.
*Graveside services with family and friends will be held at Royal Oak Burial Park on September 15th 11:00am.

So sorry for the loss of Shirley. She was a special person and she did a great deal of important work for the strata at Park Royal Place. I will very much miss her smiles and pleasant personality.
