Maria Magdalena Roemer

ROEMER, Maria Magdalena February 17, 1930 - October 29, 2021 Maria Roemer passed away on October 29, 2021 at the age of 91 years. Maria is survived by her son Heinz (Yvonne); daughter Dagmar (Gerry) Pattison; five grandchildren: Tia (Tim), Karl (Stephanie), Diana (Josh), Christopher (Emily), Nicole (Jeff); ten great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Franz (Helga); sister-in-law Gisella as well as many nieces, and nephews in Germany. Maria was predeceased by her husband Erich (2010). Maria and Erich came to Canada in 1954 and settled in Picture Butte, AB. Erich got a job building the Crofton Mill in 1958 which then led them to the Cowichan Valley. Then in 1968, they started a dairy farm. Maria was a strong and determined woman who loved her family with all her heart. She enjoyed visits with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and especially cherished watching the family farm flourish. She lived at home on the family farm until just recently. Thank you to Nurse Next Door, Marge and Tammi, who cared for Maria at home until she went into Cerwydden Senior Care. A special thank you to the staff at Cerwydden who took such good care of Maria. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honour of Maria may be made directly to The Diabetes Society, Parkinson's Society or to a charity of your choice.
