Marian BARRY Obituary

BARRY Marian Josephine of Victoria, BC, died on July 12, 2004, in Sidney, BC, at the age of 74. Marian was born at Quathiaski Cove, Quadra Island, BC, and spent most of her life in Victoria where she married William Roderick Beaton (widowed in 1980). In 1984, Marian married Thomas Edward Barry and moved to Oliver, BC (widowed in 1999). She is survived by her children Bryan (Renee), Hong Kong; Roderick, Duncan, BC; Anne (Kevin), Rimbey, AB; Ruth (Randy), Victoria, BC; Kevin (Nicole), Victoria, BC; step-daughter Janet (Barry), Oliver, BC; and thirteen grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister Patricia, of Drayton Valley, AB, and survived by her sister Colleen (Bob) of Burnaby, BC, and brother Michael (Louise) of Prince George and many nephews and nieces. Prior to raising her family, Marian taught at Tolmie School in Victoria and later returned to her profession as an instructor and writer for the Correspondence Branch with the Ministry of Education. She also gave enthusiastic leadership in ministry to children and young people in schools, churches, Sunday Schools and summer camps. In 2001, Marian returned to Vancouver Island from the Okanagan and settled in Sidney. She will be loved and greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to one of the following: - The Okanagan Gleaners, PO Box 1975, 336th Ave (No. 3 Rd.), Oliver, BC V0H 1T0 - St. Andrew's Anglican Church Mission Projects, 9691 Fourth St, Sidney, BC V8L 2Y8 - Victoria Hospice Society, 3rd Floor, Richmond Pavilion, Royal Jubilee Hospital, 1952 Bay St, Victoria, BC V8R 1J8. The funeral will be held Tuesday July 20th at 2:00p.m. at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 9691 - 4th St, Sidney, BC. There will be a reception following the service.
