Marilyn Deane Obituary

DEANE, (nee Marcus) Marilyn Diana 79y d. March 17, 2011. Marilyn was the loving wife of 11 years and best friend of Donald Deane, Victoria, BC. Survived by children Luann Nesmith (Alan) Whitby, ON, Gary Smith (Fran) Windsor, ON, Joyce Grabowiecki (John) Windsor, ON, Brian Smith (Tracie) Surrey, BC, Darrell Deane (Anne Marie) Victoria, BC, and Kim Deane (Kathy) Victoria, BC. She is also survived by Robert Marcus (Betty Lou) Coquitlam, BC, Patricia Hewitt (Archie) Bothwell, ON, Garry Marcus (Elizabeth) Edmonton, AB and Nadine Murphy Windsor, ON and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by son Charles Dennis Smith (d. 2002) and parents Albert Marcus (b. 1902) of Orford Twp, Kent Co. ON and Myrtle Marcus nee Smith (b. 1911) of Euphemia Twp, Lambton Co. ON. Marilyn was born in Bothwell, ON and raised her family in Windsor, ON where she was a member for many years of Westminster United Church and involved with 25th Scout Troop and a Business Agent for the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union, Local 35. Marilyn spent the last 13 years of her life, happily with Don residing in the greater Victoria area. They spent time visiting many of each other's relatives throughout the country, traveling to several western European countries; unbeknownst at the time their final trip was their August Alaskan cruise with family. When not travelling, she spent time coercing Don in to helping pamper her flower garden, enticing and then marvelling over the many birds that visited the Deane's little sanctuary. After a short, hard fought battle, Marilyn succumbed to cancer at Royal Jubilee Hospital. Although cremation has occurred, a memorial service in Marilyn's honour will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul's United Church, 2410 Malaview Avenue, Sidney, BC V8L 2G3 followed by a reception. If you wish a charitable donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by Marilyn. Marilyn will be interred in Bothwell at a later date. 620801
