I loved working in a school with Marilyn as chief office person. One of my university course lecturers told us to Get on the Good Side of the head secretary. All Marilyn had was a good side. She led by example. Office atmosphere was always upbeat , optimistic and cheerful.

Working with Marilyn was always a delight. I recall many gatherings of people and occasions of celebration with Marilyn as a keen member of the group. She knew well how to enjoy herself and how to celebrate others. She was in all circumstances, whether for work or pleasure, kind, generous, and helpful, while maintaining her own convictions. I am so sorry to hear of her passing, and so sorry for your loss, Rich, Matt, and family.
Sincerely, Lois Gubbe

I enjoyed working with Marilyn over the years..I recall she, a colleague of mine and I chaperoned an event filled trip to Russia with Belmont students a number of years ago. As well, Marilyn worked closely with Judy Bellis and me preparing Belmont students for University applicationsthe success rate of these students was remarkable, in large part because of Marilyn’s outstanding effort in preparing top level applications and supporting documents. Marilyn was a true professional, and her connection to staff and students at Belmont was outstanding. All my best to all her fami,y.

We read about Marilyn´s passing in shock. We extend our sincere condolences. Marilyn introduced us to Taco´s way back in the 70´s when we were neighbours and our children went to school with Mathew. We mentioned that often over the years. She always had a lovely smile and a kind heart. RIP Marilyn.

My condolences to the family. We will all miss Marilyn. I curled with her for two years, and we had great fun as a team. She was an excellent curler right up to the moment she took her last shot, which I remember as being a TV worthy Hail Mary that worked! I have missed her this last year.

I have so many special memories of Marilyn. She made me a better teacher because besides her superior organizational skills for the Belmont staff, she had no issue with giving wise counsel and encouragement when needed. I was one of the teacher sponsors on the Russia trip and as expected her infectious enthusiasm and intelligent curiosity about our experiences was really so appreciated. My professional life was a joy for many reasons and Marilyn contributed greatly to that. She was a very special woman and her memory will stay with me.

To Rick and your family,
How very sad to read of Marilyn's passing. My deepest sympathies to you all. I knew Marilyn through her love of curling and her strong affiliation with the Juan de Fuca Curling Club. We worked together on many events and projects. Marilyn was a joy to be around, never backing away from a challenge and always tackling each opportunity with boundless enthusiasm. What's more, she always put others first. She content with doing the hard work and her reward lay in the happiness of others.
A special moment occurred during the 2013 Ford Men's World Championships here in Victoria. Marilyn arranged to bring Thomas "Pants" Ulsrud and his Norwegian team to JDF to meet a junior curler who was a great fan of the team. It was a special moment and it exemplified Marilyn's total commitment to doing what she could for those around her.
Both our sons attended Belmont High during Marilyn's tenure there. In the years after, Marilyn would always ask about them and ask me to pass on her best wishes. I suspect that she had an unshakeable bond with many students she met during her duties at the school. I know our sons always held her in high regard.
She will be sorely missed.
