Marilyn MCLAREN Obituary

Marilyn passed away at home surrounded in love. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Jim, her children, Allan (Debbie), Murray (Kathy), Lesley, Gregory (Lori), her 6 grandchildren and her 4 great grandchildren.

Marilyn was devoted to her family; she was the true definition of love and generosity. Her beauty and heart shone fully when surrounded by her loved ones. She cherished time with family and friends and would happily spend hours cooking and preparing for her company. She was an avid gardener and created a beautiful, serene space at home for all to enjoy. Marilyn's love of flowers grew into taking Ikebana lessons, and then later becoming a Sensei herself; she enjoyed passing on her knowledge of Japanese flower arranging to her students, friends and family.

It is with so much sadness that we say goodbye, but we will hold her close within our hearts forever. The love she passed on to us with each kiss, each hug and each laugh will never be forgotten. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. We have been left with a lifetime of beautiful memories.

A very special thank you to Gloria for all her love and care.

There will be no service by request.

To the McLaren family,
My deepest sympathies for your loss. I know this is a sad and difficult

To the McLaren family,

I know that these will be sad and difficult days for all of you and want to extend my deepest sympathies to your family.

I will always remember the many kindnesses Mrs McLaren showed me in my younger years. In particular I remember with fondness and gratitude those times when the smell of boiled tongue emanating from my home would drive me to your door. Mrs. McLaren always welcomed me in and there was always an extra chair at the table. Her meals were delicious as I recall and I managed to get more than one recipe from her that I still use today. I think there even came a point when I no longer needed to explain what was on the menu at the Spence residence , she could tell by the sour and pained look on my face. I will remember this lovely woman fondly and again, my deepest sympathies on your loss.
