Mark HEINE Obituary

A great heart has been stilled. On June 8, in the afternoon quiet, Mark David Heine left this life, far too soon. Tell the bees.

Mark was born May 2, 1961 in Edmonton to Tess (Artus) Heine and artist Harry Heine, RSMA, FCA, CSMA, NWWS. Mark lived most of his life in Victoria, but travelled the world.

Mark was so many extraordinary and irreplaceable things. First and always, he was a kind, loving and generous family man and friend. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife and the love of his life, Lisa Leighton, his beautiful daughters Sarah Heine (Adam Conlin) and Charlotte Heine, sisters Jennifer Heine (Neil Klompas) and Caren Heine (Adrian Gee and Bob), brother-in-law Tony Leighton (Leslie Cameron), and nephews, nieces-in-law, great-nephews and -nieces, cousins, and so many friends. We were all so fortunate and grateful to have been his people.

Mark was a breathtakingly talented artist, a gifted mentor and teacher, and a great storyteller. His art is on the moon, and his book is still to come. (For more about Mark's art: https://www.mheine.com/)

He wanted people to know that he had a beautiful life. We were blessed to have been part of it.

No service is planned at this time. Special thanks to the staff of the BC Cancer Centre for their compassionate care.

My condolences to Charlotte and Sarah and the rest of Mark's family. I have fond memories of him as a father when Sarah attended Beacon Gardens. Such talent and so much love for his girls. Sending care as you move through your grief.

My little brother always made me laugh, even when he was teasing me unmercifully. He loved to tease me, his little sister Jennifer and Barney the dachshund. Who bit him. He loved Monty Python, fishing, darts, painting, and his girls, Charlotte and Sarah. He will be missed by his family, many friends, and fans of his amazing paintings. Thanks for all the laughs and love, our Eamon.

I lost a good friend. He's still in my head though, I hear his voice still when I throw my darts. I remember we were out leisurely sailing along coast up island. Mark suddenly remembered the next day was he and Lisa's anniversary... we turned around and sailed all thru the night to get him home. Big fist bump buddy! Miss you already.

Always positive and curious, friendly and generous, sharp-witted and engaging. Mark is already missed by everyone who knew him. Love and hugs to Lisa and his family.
